We are sad to announce that Morton Manus, President of Alfred Music, passed away at his Los Angeles home on January 9. In 2011 the MPA honored Morty with our MPA Lifetime Achievement Award for his devoted service to music educators, students, musicians, the music community as a whole, as well his tireless leadership and extraordinary vision. A great man, his absence in the industry will be felt.

On Friday, June 19 The Music Publishers Association will honor Ralph Peer II with its Lifetime Achievement Award at its Annual Meeting, recognizing him for his tireless advocacy for music creators and publishers around the world. Celebrated peermusic Classical composer Mohammed Fairouz will introduce Mr. Peer and present him with his award.

The National Music Council/ Music Publishers Association “Copy Kid” animated PSA that encourages young people to respect the rights of creators won best Community/Public Service Award at the 57th Annual New York Emmy® Awards. The animation, created by Bevin Carnes is part of a new, innovative education tool for primary school students designed to teach respect and admiration for creators, inventors and their works.
